About Me

I’m Jenny J’Creo, a pre-licensed therapist and addiction counselor. I have worked in several different addiction treatment centers since 2013 and realized that I wanted to reach my clients at the root cause of their addictions, so I went back to school for my Master’s Degree in Professional Clinical Counseling.

I have always known I wanted to be a mental health therapist, but it took thirty years on a journey through a marriage, commitment to religion, three children, a divorce, reframing of spirituality, coming out late in life, and getting remarried before I found my way to the profession.

Today I work with individuals with anxiety, depression, addiction, and life transitions to combat the negative messages they’ve learned over time and process through life events in order to challenge old narratives, gain skills, and create whole-hearted living.

Clinical Approaches

Having been an addiction counselor for the past 13 years, I have always enjoyed leading groups through the brain-body connection, childhood trauma that pushes us away from our authentic selves, how our thoughts and feelings affect our beliefs and behaviors, and that we have more control over our lives than we think we do.

I use a trauma-informed, psychodynamic approach and rely heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with narrative therapy to help people gain control of their thoughts and actions. I depend heavily on the relationship I build with my clients and believe in growing and changing as a team. I love celebrating big and small victories together.

What you can expect from me is warmth and understanding, questions that help us navigate our way through your journey, humor and positive reinforcement, feedback and gentle pushes to go to hard places, and time to get to where you want to go.

The human behind the credentials.

Outside the office, you can find me and my wife trying a new restaurant in and around Minneapolis, enjoying a concert (hopefully at Red Rocks Amphitheater), sitting on Cedar Beach or paddleboarding on Lake Minnetonka, escaping for a weekend to an airbnb, doing house projects in our 1941 home, hanging out with any or all of our seven adult children and their partners, or sitting in our back yard with our dogs, Lady Jane and Sir Jeffers, playing cribbage.

As the oldest of seven children, I am a caregiver and prioritize our family and extended family. I am consistently trying to balance work, relationships, home life, and self-care. I listen to podcasts and audiobooks about living against the grain, minimalism, balance, purpose, and spirituality. I thoroughly enjoy my work helping people see life through a different lens, build skills they can use throughout their lives, and create new hope-filled chapters in their lives.
