Everything you're wondering about, before you ever book a session.
Getting Started
-
Fill out our contact form here [link] or email us here [link] and you'll hear back from a real human within 24 hours. We'll get you matched and scheduled ASAP. Most often folx are seen within about a week.
-
Nope! You can self-refer or come at the recommendation of a doctor, therapist, or bestie.
-
You don't! We're here to match you with someone skilled to meet you where you're at and who we think will be a good fit. If they're not, no biggie — just let us know and we'll help you find the perfect match. If you've got your heart set on a specific helper, we can check their availability and, if there's space, get you on their schedule. You're in good hands.
-
It happens, and we don't take offense (seriously). We want you to find the right fit and we're here to help guarantee you do. Reach out, let us know, and we'll get you in the right place with the right person.
-
That's more than okay. A lot of folx come in just knowing something feels off. You don't need the perfect words or a tidy goal. Your provider will help you find the thread and gently pull on it — figuring out what you're here for can be part of the work itself.
-
Brief review of logistics and procedures, making sure we have all thing things signed we need, blah blah blah. Then, we just get to talking and learning about you, your family, your history and what brings you in. We assess how we can help and you begin assessing fit. Its a collaborative process.
-
We work with individuals across the lifespan. For therapy, we have experts trained in infant mental health and love working with those itty-bitties. All the way up through older adulthood. Same for psychological evaluation, developmental testing or looking at neurodevelopmental differences, getting baselines, etc for as young as 12 months is right in our wheelhouse.
-
Yep! If it isn’t a good fit we recommend chatting about this with your therapist- it happens, we get it, we don’t take it personally. Either way, you can always connect with our scheduling team info@vaydamentalhealth.com and we will help you find the best fit. We got you.
Insurance, Payment & Cost
-
Yes! We're in-network with all major insurance companies, including MA/Medicaid and Medicare. Since each plan differs, we highly recommend you verify your benefits and confirm Vayda MH is in your specific network.
-
Sure! If you're not insured, or we're not in-network with your specific plan, let us know and we can walk through self-pay options and pricing.
-
It depends on your specific plan. We suggest you call your insurance company — they're the only ones who can tell you what to expect for your out-of-pocket costs (if any). They might ask for this info:
Practice info: Vayda Mental Health Collaborative PLLC (NPI-2 1770194417)
CPT Codes: Intake/DA (90837); therapy sessions (90837, 90834, 90832); psychological testing (96130, 96131, 96136, 96137)
-
All clients provide an electronic payment form (credit/debit/HSA/FSA card) stored in our safe and secure portal. Anytime a balance accrues after insurance is billed — copay, deductible, co-insurance — payment is made automatically. Easy peasy.
-
We get it, life happens. Please let your provider know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel. A late fee ($140) is charged for late cancellations and no-shows.
-
Yes! If you're paying out of pocket, whether you're uninsured or just prefer private pay, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate under the federal No Surprises Act. It's a written breakdown of what your care is expected to cost, so nothing comes as a surprise later. We'll get one to you when you schedule, and you can ask for an updated estimate anytime your care changes.
-
Yes! If we're not in-network with your plan, or you're paying privately, we can give you a superbill, an itemized receipt with everything your insurance needs to consider reimbursing you for out-of-network care. You submit it to your insurer, and any reimbursement comes back to you directly. Every plan is different, so we'd check your out-of-network mental health benefits first.
-
We value accessibility to care and understand that finances can be a barrier. If you have questions or concerns, let your therapist know or reach out to our billing department directly to talk through options.
Sessions & Logistics
-
Usually about 50 minutes.
-
Most meet weekly or every other week, especially to start. Needs are different for everyone — your provider will clarify what's medically necessary for you.
-
Yep! Some people do all sessions virtually on our HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, some do a mix and match.
-
Yep! A few providers offer these times. They're less common and book fast.
-
All of our providers are licensed (or supervised by) a MN board-approved clinician. There are a few providers licensed to practice in neighboring states (e.g., Wisconsin), and PSYPACT which allows services for clients in about 44/50 US states/territories. Reach out and we will help figure out how we can help!
-
We have 2 options for you to meet with your provider IRL! Coon Rapids or Maple Grove, Minnesota. Both ADA accessible, on a bus line, and have cozy offices, and…. snacks!
-
Vayda is not a crisis service. If you are in need of immediate support do one of these things right away:
Call 911 or go directly to your nearest ER
Call 988 if you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts
Reach out to the Anoka County Mental Health Crisis line at 763-755-3801 or Hennepin County COPE (24/7 mobile MH crisis team) at 612-596-1223.

Your privacy is important to us, plus we are obligated to keep things confidential. We abide by HIPAA and other laws/regulations.

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) — a master's-level, licensed mental health therapist.
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) — a master's-level, licensed mental health therapist with training in clinical social work.
Licensed Marriage + Family Therapist (LMFT) — a master's-level, licensed mental health therapist with specialized training in family systems and couples work.

A pre-licensed therapist or clinical trainee — we value development and training! You may work with a master's-prepared therapist or doctoral psychology trainee, resident, or postdoctoral fellow pursuing licensure who's receiving consultation from a highly skilled Vayda supervisor. Best of both worlds: you get access to TWO therapists plus our whole expert team.

We practice cultural humility here. Inclusivity and working from an anti-oppressive lens is one of our core values. What we can assure you is that you and your experience are welcome here and we are constantly doing the work to align with our beliefs for belonging, justice, and equality for all people.
Services & Specialties
-
We do! Both psychological testing and therapy, for clients as young as 12 months. It's one of our specialties.
-
Yes, in the way that fits your kid. With younger children, parents are often closely involved. With teens, we protect their space to open up while keeping you looped in on the big picture. Your provider will set clear expectations with your family from day one.
-
Yes. For couples, throuples, polycules…. Several of our providers specialize in couples and relationship work — whether you're navigating a rough patch, a big transition, or just want to feel like a team again. Tell us a bit about what's going on and we'll match you with the right fit.
-
We sure do! Not only are we a collective of generally playful and down-to-earth humans, those who work with youngsters use play as the vehicle of change and healing. It IS the language of development and woven into all therapy with kids (AND sometimes even grown-ups). Our spaces for kids are warm, welcoming, and full of toys and gadgets to play with and facilitate the work.
-
Yes. Sometimes the most powerful thing for a child is support for the people raising them. We offer parenting guidance both on its own and alongside a child's care. Raising kids does not happen in a vacuum, and neither does their therapy work. Caregivers are a part of the process so we can wrap around your whole family system.
-
You absolutely are. We understand the nuances of the decision to end a pregnancy- for a myriad of reasons. Whether you want to talk about your experience, received a devastating diagnosis and need to make a decision, or contemplating. You belong here.
-
We hear that and know those feels so well. Yes, we have specific waiting room spaces and offices designed specifically for you. Come as you are.
-
Absolutely. Especially in our perinatal work, babies are welcome. Hold them, rock them, do what you need to do. You don't have to have childcare figured out to get support.
-
Of course. Bottle or breast, whenever and however your baby needs it. No need to ask, no need to cover up, no need to pause the conversation.
-
Reach out to us to get scheduled or added to our waiting list info@vaydamentalhealth.com. The whole process takes a few weeks. Expect your written report in around 4-6 weeks following feedback. Covered by insurance. If not, we can provide you with a superbill or discuss private pay options.
