Psychology Patients’ Bill of Rights

Minnesota Board of Psychology

Patients of psychologists licensed by the state of Minnesota have the right:

• to expect the psychologist is qualified by training and experience as required by state law

• to read the public records kept by the board of psychology. These records contain the credentials of a psychologist.

• to be told the cost of services before receiving the services.

• to privacy as defined by rule and law.

• to be free from discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender or other unlawful category while receiving services.

• to have access to their own records as stated in subpart 1a of the rules of conduct and Minnesota Statutes, section 144.355, subdivision 2.

• to never be exploited for the benefit or advantage of their psychologist. • to obtain a copy of the rules of conduct from:
