About Me
Hey, I’m Jess (she/her). While we usually don’t seek out therapy when we are feeling great and things are going as planned, I’m glad you’re here. I value your experience and hope that our work together will help you feel seen, understood, and empowered.
I have over ten years of experience working in mental health care and social services. I’ve worked with folks from all walks of life, everywhere from the hospital to their own homes and everywhere in between.
I am very open and generally pretty chill. I value authenticity and think it’s a vital element of the therapeutic process.
I love working with people who are neurodiverse, queer, parenting, going through life transitions, navigating infertility and/or alternative family planning such as adoption or IVF, and so much more!
Clinical Approaches
I have a relational and person-centered approach, which means I think building a trusting relationship between client and therapist is the most important part of doing this hard work together. I’m here to help you process and explore your emotions and experiences. I am a firm believer in “the only way out is through” and I view the therapeutic process as me walking alongside you on your path “through.”
I am a social worker down to my bones and practice therapy from a social justice lens. Systemic issues play a huge role in our day-to-day struggles and I think it is vital to take them into account when processing your experiences as an individual.
What you can expect from me: authenticity, direct communication, some dark humor when it might help, and a strong advocate in your corner. Also, probably community resources because the social worker in me just can’t resist.
The human behind the credentials.
I am a Pisces sun, Taurus moon, Libra rising. I’m also obviously gay since I brought astrology into this immediately. I am both “the do-er” and “the one who shows up” for my people. I have helped with many home projects, stayed up with colicky babies, done many loads of laundry and sinks full of dishes, and just about anything else to help lighten the load of the ones I care about when they are going through it—whatever ‘it’ may be. I don’t shy away from the messy parts of life; I will continue to be the one who shows up and gets things done. I love spending time with my loved ones, laughing until it hurts, music, watching documentaries, wandering through farmer’s markets and art fairs, hiking, and traveling. I just moved down to the Twin Cities area from Duluth, and I am looking forward to building community here and getting involved in more community organizing.
