About Me

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a therapist at Vayda, currently completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University.

I’ve always been someone who enjoys getting to know people and hearing their stories, which is a big part of what drew me to counseling. I especially enjoy working with kids, teens, young adults, and families. Whether someone is dealing with anxiety, family or relationship stress, a big life change, or just feeling stuck, I want to create a space where they feel comfortable being themselves. I’m pretty easygoing and I don’t expect anyone to come into therapy with everything figured out. You can talk, ask questions, sit in silence, laugh, cry, or take some time to figure out what you even want to say. My goal is for therapy to feel like a place where you can actually be yourself instead of feeling like you have to say the “right” thing.

Clinical Approaches

My approach is person-centered, with influences from CBT and family systems. For me, the relationship comes first. I want to get to know you and understand what you’re experiencing before deciding what we should work on together.

CBT can be helpful for looking at the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and figuring out where we might be getting stuck. I also like using a family systems perspective because none of us exist in a bubble. Our relationships, families, experiences, and environments can all shape how we see ourselves and the world around us.

I also don’t think therapy needs to look the same for everyone. With kids and teens especially, sometimes sitting and talking for an hour makes sense, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m comfortable using humor, creativity, play, or whatever helps someone feel more comfortable and connected. Most importantly, I want therapy to feel like something we’re doing together. I’m not here to tell you who you should be or what you should do. I’m here to listen, help you sort through what’s going on, and support you as you figure out what feels right for you.

The human behind the credentials.

Outside of counseling, I’m a mom, a hockey person, a huge dog lover, and someone who really values family. I love spending time with the people I care about, being outside, and making memories. I’m also a big coffee person, so there’s a pretty good chance I’m happier with a coffee in my hand. I’m naturally pretty caring and sentimental, but I also love to laugh and don’t take myself too seriously. I think that balance is a big part of who I am. I’m not afraid of the hard conversations, but I also think there’s room for humor, lighthearted moments, and being a normal human while working through hard things. If you’re nervous about starting therapy, you’re not alone. You don’t need to have the perfect words or know exactly what you need. You can show up as yourself, and we can figure it out from there.
