About Me

My name is Charlotte Smith, and I’m a licensed mental health therapist specializing in trauma and the mind-body connection. Because of the world we live in, many of us have become disconnected from our emotions. We often ignore what we feel until our bodies demand our attention through chronic illness, emotional outbursts, and persistent stress. And the strategies we’ve relied on to stay safe—overthinking, numbing, perfectionism, or self-criticism–pull us further away from who we are at our core.

I am here to help reconnect with every part of you that needs to speak. Within us are different versions of ourselves that developed in response to our experiences—parts that are still waiting to be seen, understood, and healed. Together, we can meet that child who was never heard, that teenager who could only rage at the world, or that little kid who just wanted to be loved.

If you've done all the reading, listened to the podcasts, and been told you're “extremely self-aware,” you may be ready for a different approach. While insight is valuable, I believe our deepest emotions are not always expressed through facts, logic, or intellectual understanding. Often, they emerge through images, symbols, metaphors, and the stories that arise from within. I have a deep appreciation for the language of the inner world and the wisdom that can be found in its analogies, instincts, and narratives.

Clinical Approaches

What does this actually look like? Brainspotting, guided imagery, and parts-informed work.

Brainspotting: A trauma-focused therapy that uses specific eye positions to help access and process emotions and experiences that may be stored in the brain and body. For more information, visit brainspotting.com or read the article “Brainspotting Therapy vs. EMDR” by LifeStance.

Parts-informed work: An approach that helps identify and heal wounded or protective parts of yourself that developed in response to childhood experiences. We can figure out what those parts need for healing and how we can break unhelpful patterns.

Guided imagery: A therapeutic technique that uses visualization to access emotions and insights that may be difficult to reach through thinking alone. Much like dreams help us process emotions during sleep, guided imagery allows our mind to communicate underlying feelings through images and metaphors.

The human behind the credentials.

If you could peep into a session, you’ll find chill vibes, comfy clothes, and a grilled-cheese-sandwich pillow named Hubert. Our space is more about comfort than performance, a place to feel like ourselves even if we’re still figuring out what that looks like. Crafts, projects, fidgets, blankets, tea, coloring books, and laughs are always welcome, and we’ll follow whatever pace your nervous system needs.

While I love the “deep end” of the mind, I’m a nerd at heart. My specific varieties are video games, musicals, anime, art, crafting, and sewing. Give me a new project idea, and I’ll be at the thrift store within the hour. I have the (false) confidence that I can figure out anything with a YouTube video and some time. Just don’t give me anything creepy, crawly, or slimy–I might not be the one putting my bait on my hook, but I’m definitely reeling in the biggest walleyes. ;)
