About Me
I'm Dr. Katie Isham, a licensed clinical psychologist, founder and co-owner of Vayda Mental Health Collab. My approach to clinical work and leadership are done with meaning and intention. I am steady, honest, and gentle. This allows people to feel safe with me; leading my friends and family to seek out my “pseudo therapist” skills even before officially becoming one.
Based on my own early life experiences with congenital heart defects, I first thought about being a Child Life Specialist, helping children and families navigate the hardest parts of medical care. However, my trajectory led me down a different path, and as a psychologist, specializing in working with children impacted by trauma.
Over the years, my practice has naturally expanded to include women across every stage of life, particularly those carrying the invisible weight of trying to hold everything together. Whether you're navigating school, career, relationships, infertility, pregnancy loss, IVF, surrogacy, parenthood, or simply wondering how you lost yourself somewhere along the way, therapy can be a place to be seen, fully.
I know life isn't lived in neat chapters. It's full of transitions, unexpected detours, impossible expectations, and seasons where you're doing everything you can just to keep your head above water. You don't have to carry that alone.
My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel deeply understood, challenged in meaningful ways, and supported as you reconnect with yourself, not that perfect version you think you're supposed to be, but the one who’s been there all along.
Clinical Approaches
I approach my work with curiosity, compassion, and a deep belief that healing happens through safe, authentic relationships. The relationship we build is at the heart of our work together.
I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without judgment, pressure, or the need to have it all figured out. I bring warmth, validation, humor, and thoughtful challenge into the room. Sometimes we'll untangle old patterns. Sometimes we'll learn practical tools that make tomorrow a little easier. Sometimes we'll sit with grief or uncertainty because there isn't a quick fix and that’s okay.
Some sessions are filled with insight and breakthroughs. Others are simply a place to breathe, process, and be fully seen. Both are valuable. Together, we'll work toward helping you feel more grounded, connected, and equipped to navigate whatever life is asking of you.
I want therapy to feel like a conversation with someone who genuinely gets invested in your story. Someone who notices patterns you can't yet see, asks questions that help things click into place, and isn't afraid to sit with you in the hard moments.
The human behind the credentials.
Outside of the office, I'm usually spending time with my husband, our toddler daughter, and our dog, Finn. You'll often find me dreaming up home renovation projects I may or may not actually finish, attempting to keep my garden alive, trying a new restaurant, or convincing friends to meet me for coffee or a glass of wine. I make time and space for my people, always.
I love beautiful spaces, being outside, and the kind of conversations where people can laugh hard one minute and talk about something deeply real the next. When I have quiet, I can also be found feeding my hunger for creativity- painting (and repainting, and repainting all the walls), completing home landscaping projects, or other artsy-crafty things. I can be convinced to watch irreverent comedy and true crime, but prefer rom-coms, home reno, or cooking shows. A good book in hand is also common.
I don't believe therapists should pretend to have life all figured out. I'm human, too. I know what it feels like to juggle responsibilities, wonder if you're doing enough, and trying to balance caring for everyone else while also having to tend to yourself.
Wherever you're starting, I'll meet you there. We'll make sense of what's hurting, celebrate what's growing, and work together to help you build a life that feels more like your own.
