Makenzie Showalter, LGSW
Pre-Licensed Therapist
(she/her)
I provide therapy for both individuals and couples who are navigating life’s challenges and seeking meaningful change. My approach is person-centered, which means I see you as the expert of your own life and will walk alongside you with empathy, curiosity, and respect. I practice from a neurodivergent-affirming perspective, which means honoring and valuing different ways of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world. Rather than focusing on “fixing”, I work to support acceptance, growth, and self-understanding for neurodivergent client’s and their families. My areas of interest include ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and sex therapy for individuals and couples.
I believe that growth often happens when we can hold both the hard stuff and the lighter moments, so I often weave humor and humility into my work. Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating—sometimes laughter can be just as healing as tears! Whether you’re facing personal struggles, relationship challenges, or simply seeking personal growth, I am here to help you move forward with compassion and empathy. Outside the office, I can be found doing all the "grandma" hobbies including crocheting, knitting, cross stitching, and consuming WAY to much caffeine! I additionally enjoy indulging in a good romance book while cuddling with my American Bully, Dolly, who often steals all the blankets! If you have read the above and are thinking we would make a good fit, I encourage you to reach out! I look forward to connecting!"
